LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Pulaski County Clerk's Office processed 177 marriage license applications Monday. Only a handful of that total number were of the "bride and groom" type. The rest were same-sex couples beginning the process to get married.

The Pulaski County clerk's marriage license office was ready to go for couples like Kaci Thompson and Tressa Rupert. The two say they have waited for this day for 12 years. "This is really happening. I did not think that this was a possibility but it really happened. It happened so fast we're processing it at the same time. To see people who have obviously have been together for many more years than us...to get to finalize that today was just amazing."

Pulaski county clerk Larry Crane says Monday was one of their busiest days ever. Last week, for example, they certified 80 marriages, and that was considered a lot. Monday they received 177 applications.
