Arkansas Man Remembers 2008 AR Tornado Outbreak

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- On April 3, 2008, a major storm outbreak hit central Arkansas, causing damage across the area. Jim Woolly lived through the storm and says he'll never forget it.

"We were just watching, waiting to see where we needed to go hide," said Woolly.

Woolly says the storm came through quickly.

"My wife had already crawled under the stairs with the dog and cell phone," said Woolly, "I jumped under there and we hadn't been under there for 10 seconds and we heard a big (sound) and that was it."

The National Weather Service says 10 tornadoes hit central Arkansas, damaging property in Pulaski, Saline, Lonoke and White Counties.

Wooly says the storm caused roughly $100,000 IN damage to his home. But even though the bad experience, he still has no fear facing future storms.

"I'm not going to sit around all day and wring my hands and wait for it to hit or not hit," said Woolly.

But he says the obvious is clear.

"We are at the complete mercy of Mother Nature," said Woolly.
