ASP, Former Gentry Cheerleader May Have Fallen Asleep before Deadly Crash

GENTRY, AR-- Arkansas State Police say it's likely a former All State cheerleader in Benton County fell asleep behind the wheel in a deadly early-morning crash.

ASP tells us 18-year-old Sophia Porter was headed north on Highway 59 at around 4:30 Friday morning when she crossed the center turn lane into the southbound lanes.

The driver of an oncoming tractor-trailer swerved to miss her, but hit the car head-on.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital where he's listed in fair condition.
