Conway Woman Helps Find Missing 'Tornado' Pets

VILONIA, AR -- A Conway woman gives up hours of her time everyday to help reunite victims of the April 27th tornado with their missing pets.

Tabitha Black says there's no organized effort to help look for missing pets or bring them home.

So, she puts food in traps, helping to lure in, hopefully, missing animals.

Black said, "If I can get them back, one part, one family member, just to give them a little bit of hope, that just makes my heart glow."

Volunteers are doing whatever they can to help find animals, including spray painting signs in areas where they're looking for missing pets.

In one neighborhood, Black is looking for a cat named Olivia.

She said, "They've already (Olivia's family) lost one of the cats. It passed away in the storm, on top of losing their son Jeffrey."

She's also recruiting extra people and creating a team of animal search and rescuers.

One of the volunteers, Erin Reed, said, "I just wanted to get out here and help. I'm a big animal person. I've been rescuing animal since I was a kid."

The missing furry faces will pop up on a Vilonia Tornado Facebook page where people can search for their missing pets.

Most of the animals are staying in foster homes until they are reunited with their families.

Black has been searching for animals for a week and a half now, she's already helped to reunite a couple of pets and owners.
