Drones on Bentonville Fire Department's Radar

BENTONVILLE, AR-- Drones could be coming to the Bentonville Fire department if crews get their way.

Fire department officials are considering buying an 'unmanned aircraft system' to help speed up emergency response time

It could also be used to monitor large areas at public events and also assist in search and rescue and other emergency situations.

The city's mayor tells us a drone could be possible in the near future, with a price tag of about $8,000

The fire department would use insurance money returned from the state instead of tax dollars taken in by the city if it buys the system.

We'll keep you posted on a final decision.
