Gunfire in a Neighborhood Leads to Arrest

FORT SMITH -- A teen is arrested after witnesses say someone was shooting a gun in a neighborhood.

It happened on Monday in Fort Smith where, around 7:45p.m., police got reports of gunshots near 500 North 21st Street. When police arrived, they saw a Jeep Cherokee driving away on North 21st.

Officers followed the Jeep and saw it hit a car parked along the road before the driver and passenger jumped out of the car and ran away. Police later found a 17 year old and another man hiding in the bathroom of a house on the corner of North K and 21st.

The teen was arrested had an outstanding misdemeanor failure to appear warrant and was taken into custody. The other man was not arrested and police say there was not enough evidence to bring charges related to the gunshots.
