SALINE COUNTY, AR - A K-9 with the Little Rock Police Department is off the job for 10 days after he got loose and bit two people.

It happened Monday night around 8 in the 1500 block of Quail Ridge Rd. near Alexander.

The dog, "Ammo," is a Dutch Shepherd who's been with the LRPD at least 3 years. His handler is Ofc. Jason Harris.

Saline County deputies say the dog got out of his pen and then jumped a 6-foot fence in the home's backyard. Both victims lived across the street. At least one of them was taken to a Little Rock hospital where 10 stitches were needed to close the wound.

In a news release Tuesday, the Little Rock Police Department said the K-9 incident is being treated as a vicious dog bite by Saline County.

The K-9 is at home but cannot report to work for 10 days as required under the Saline County vicious dog ordinance. The K-9 handler was not at home at the time of the incident. Emergency personnel responded to the residence where they located the K-9 in his driveway.
