LITTLE ROCK, AR - A report released Thursday by Arkansas Advocates for Families and Children finds the current state minimum wage inadequate.

The report says if Arkansas minimum wage kept up with inflation, workers would be paid over $10 hourly. Arkansas' current minimum wage sits at $6.25, one dollar below the federal minimum wage.

Eleanor Wheeler, senior policy analyst at AACF, says the report makes the case for a ballot initiative underway to raise the state minimum wage to $8.25.

"We've known that families in Arkansas are having a harder and harder time making ends meet," Wheeler says.
