LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Former Republican candidate for Attorney General David Sterling has announced his support for Leslie Rutledge.

Leslie Rutledge defeated David Sterling in the Republican primary runoff.

Rutledge will face Democrat Nate Steel in the general election in November.

Sunday, Sterling released the following statement via Facebook:

"I want you to know that I am excited to support Leslie Rutledge, my former opponent, as she attempts to become the first Republican Attorney General in Arkansas history. The stakes are too high to stop fighting. This is why I am writing Leslie a $250.00 check, and I hope you will consider making a donation to her campaign as well."
