The national movement is designed to raise skin cancer awareness.Premier Dermatology and Skin Renual Center declared an all-out 'destruction zone' in the front yard of its Bentonville office.
The public was invited to 'drop the hammer' on tanning, by literally smashing a tanning bed with a sledgehammer.
"A lot of young people tend to see the tanning bed as a safer option, when it absolutely is not," says Dr. Missy Clifton, Dermatologist and Premier Dermatology Owner. "We've actually seen a huge rise in melanoma in young people over the last few years, and really the indoor tanning is the main cause for that."
All donations from the tanning bed smash will benefit the Skin Cancer Foundation.
