PONCA, AR-- A hiker is now recovering, thanks to the help of a pair of University of Arkansas students.

The National Park Service says the 18-year-old Jonesboro hiker slipped and fell Monday night while trying to cross the top of Eden Falls in the Buffalo National River area.

Investigators say the teen first fell about ten feet before a ledge stopped him.

But the wet conditions caused him to slip again and fall another 15-20 feet.

Two nearby hikers, who also happen to be University of Arkansas students, came to his aid.

Cameron Cheri and Kenny Lewis, were able to help get him to safety.

At last check, the injured hiker was stable and in intensive care at a nearby hospital.
