The First Tee of NWA Preparing to Open New Indoor Golf Facility

LOWELL, Ark. (KFTA) -- - The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas is upping its game. The local nonprofit plans to put a new indoor practice facility to good use.

"It's the only facility like this in Northwest Arkansas," First Tee of Northwest Arknasas Executive Director Elizabeth Prenger proudly shared.

The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas is more than a little excited about the future of the new structure at their facility in Lowell, and for good reason. It offers a number of conveniences.

"[It is] the only indoor driving range, we'll have practice putting greens, we'll have a really cool simulator and we're the only one of its kind in the area," Prenger said.

Prenger and the coaches are ecstatic to share this new facility with the kids the nonprofit teaches. However the First Tee is more than a sports program for kids, it provides educational opportunities to build character, instill life-enhancing values and to promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

"We work with about 20,000 elementary school students throughout Northwest Arkansas," Prenger explained. "Our coaches spend a lot of time going into the schools and leading their P.E. classes to deliver our golf and life skills experience."

The new indoor facility offers all the children the First Tee teaches a chance to learn and enjoy the sport year-round and in all sorts of weather conditions. Prenger is understandably excited to open the doors soon.

"It's been a pretty quick project, surprisingly," Prenger offered. "It's like one day it was not here and then the next day we have this really cool building. We hope to have it operational by the end of the summer."

Perhaps one of the best parts about the new facility is that it is not just the First Tee students who benefit.

"While our primary purpose is to teach kids important leadership skills and healthy habits through the game of golf, we also have wonderful amenities for adults to come out and use," Prenger said.

The new simulator can recreate a number of real world courses digitally, and can even evaluate your swing. Again, it is worth mentioning the new facility is not just for the kids. Click here to learn more about all the First Tee offers.
