Pink Courage: 20th Pink Ribbon Luncheon

SPRINGDALE, AR - Susan G. Komen Ozark is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Pink Ribbon Luncheon.

"We are going to celebrate from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave... The Komen mission is to eradicate breast cancer... It is a time for us to celebrate, to raise money, to help people understand what we do, to promote education," said Connie Williams, Pink Ribbon Luncheon chairman.

Organizers are putting the final pink touches on the event to get ready for a crowd of nearly 800.

"The people that come are daughters and sisters and mothers and fathers that come. We have people that come from all over our community," said Williams.

She has seen the luncheon take on new life over the years. It is a personal mission in her life.

"I was at the very first Pink Ribbon Luncheon. I've been involved with the Komen Foundation for the last 20 years, but I became a survivor 9 years ago."

It is a cause close to many hearts. The luncheon allows for learning and is a celebration you do not want to miss.

"We hear about the newest and latest innovation in breast cancer awareness... We have lots of survivors that come, we celebrate our survivorship... It is one of the best events we have all year and we do it in October because it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month," said Williams.

The luncheon is Friday, October 27, at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale. Doors open at 10:45 a.m. The event starts at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $50 each or $500 for a table. Click here to buy your tickets online.
