Nate Kuester

Evening anchor Nate Kuester joins the KNWA News team from the CBS affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was a weekday morning news anchor. This is a homecoming for Nate, who lived in Northwest Arkansas during his childhood. His mother is a proud University of Arkansas Alumna and Nate's first football game ever was at Reynolds Razorback Stadium during the days of legendary coach Lou Holtz. He counts himself as a lifelong Razorbacks fan and has been "calling the Hogs" for as long as he can remember.

Oddly, Nate met his wife Heather (a native Arkansan) while he was working at the FOX affiliate in Boise, Idaho. They have a daughter, Brynn, who now shares the family tradition of cheering on the Razorbacks. They also have a mini Poodle named Griffey. Besides the Hogs, Nate is a huge fan of his Alma Mater Washington State University. Go Cougs! He is a graduate of the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication. He also served as the Student Body (ASWSU) vice president during his college days. Nate also remains an active member of the Delta Upsilon International Fraternity and works in an advisory role.

While living in Arkansas as a boy, Nate split his time in Washington State during summers and cheers on the teams there as well. After also living in Oklahoma, he eventually moved to the Seattle, area in his teens and spent a good portion of his life in the Northwest. Because of that, he's always ready to talk Seahawks and Mariners with anyone who will listen. That came in handy while Nate took a brief break from TV and hosted an afternoon Sports Talk radio show in Boise and won an award for the Best Sports Talk Show in Idaho from the State Broadcasters Association. He was also the Editor-in-Chief of NationalFootballAuthority.com, a website that was focused solely on covering college and professional football across the U.S. The site contributed content to ESPN.com on a daily basis. Nate also covered the Boise State Broncos during the meteoric rise, following the epic 2007 Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma.

Nate is a self-confessed pop culture nerd, weather chaser and sports fanatic. His career in the media began early at the age of 15 when he started his first career as a radio DJ at a high school radio station in Bellevue, Washington. During his radio years he worked as a Top 40 DJ (where he was known as "Nate Dogg") and worked in several music formats over the years.

Besides working in Milwaukee most recently, Nate also put in time at the Lewiston, Idaho CBS affiliate KLEW where he managed the news department as the News Director. Nate has a fairly diverse TV News background. He also worked in TV News in Boise, ID where he served in many roles which included morning weather forecaster, news anchor, executive producer, reporter and sports director. He earned an Emmy nomination, awards from the Idaho State Broadcasters Association for Best Sports Segment (this time for TV), Weather and Sports achievements from the Idaho Press Club and was singled out for an “Animo!” media award for “Outstanding TV Reporter of the Year.”

Nate and his family couldn't be any more excited to be back home and take in all that the area has to offer. And he loves to explore, so make sure you reach out to him on Facebook and Twitter to connect with him about the best places to visit and take in.
