Jen Boyle with the American Cancer Society said, " theAmerican Cancer Society has been around for over 100 years and we're passionate about advocacy, prevention and research. We want to focus on how do we find a cure, what does that look like."
The nonprofit doesn't just focus on one particular cancer, but all of them. That is why they hold several events each highlighting different forms of cancer.
One such event is partnering with P & G and Pantene Beautiful Lengths to hold pony-tail cutting party's.
Boyle mentioned, "The hair from the cutting events are made into the wigs and we're able to distribute them locally to our community."
With several more events planned to help raise awareness, the nonprofits biggest need is for more people to get involved.
"There's no volunteer opportunity that someone can't take part in and no donation to small," Boyle said.
