In the works for nearly 2 1/2 years, New Beginning will soon be the newest nonprofit to help foster children in Northwest Arkansas.
Ken Ferguson, the founder of New Beginning said, "The need is great. We were told as soon as our doors opened they could fill them immediately."
The nonprofit is working to build 6 homes that will each house 9 children.
Organizers say it will be a place they can call home and feel like a family.
Ferguson said, "Rather than shift them around we want to be that one constant place where they can go. This will be a place for them to grow and learn while facing difficult life challenges."
The nonprofit says besides focusing on sibling groups to keep families together, they also look to provide stability in a family-like atmosphere with playgrounds and recreational activities.
They say the facility can mean the world of difference for many of the children they plan to help who have been neglected or abused.
It's not about us, it's about the children. It's a great feeling to be able to help them," said Ferguson.
