NORTHWEST ARKANSAS-- Keller Williams Realty agents spent the Thursday stuffing trucks with goods for local organizations as part of their "Red Day" event.

Outreach specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas, Ashley Byrd, said "They've partnered up with us and House of Hope in Springdale to do a clothing drive which is what we really need.

Lisa Smith with Keller Williams Realty said "Red Day" is a company-wide event that started in 2009. "All of our offices close down and we give time and energy to the community. We think it's important to give where you live. We have to be sure that our communities are strong and that everybody is thriving."

Byrd said she knows how these contributions can make an impact. "We have a lot of kids who either come from single parent households, or incarcerated parent households and they really need role models in their life."

She said donated clothes will be sold in the organization's thrift stores and proceeds fund programs for kids. "They are able to put more hours into getting volunteers, and having matched specialists to really make sure the relationships are going well."

Agents hope the "Red Day" ritual leaves a lasting impression. Smith said, "Red stands for renew, energize, and donate and we would like to get everybody out and involved."

Organizations are grateful for donations that can ultimately make a difference. Byrd said, "Whether we get one bag of clothing today or 500 bags of clothing, there's going to be an awareness and just being a part of it is always a good thing."
