NBC -- New data show one in ten teens and young adults treated in the ER for any reason, admitted to misusing prescription painkillers or sedatives at least once within the past year. That included taking medications to get high, taking more than was prescribed to them, or taking pills prescribed to someone else. Researchers say because young patients may be seeking these drugs when they come to the emergency room, iit could be a good setting to screen for possible abuse and begin early interventions.
