Brightest Classroom March 26h: Mrs. Erickson's 5th Grade

Our "brightest classroom" isn't located inside a building, but rather right outside.

My fifth graders just began a community garden. We have planted 2,500 square feet of vegetables and flowers in order to learn sustainability, environmentalism, and even composting. My science classroom is currently planning to begin a composting project where they recycle all leftover cafeteria food and eventually turn it into rich soil.

Even though this project isn't inside our actual school building, my students are daily working outside to further their knowledge of all things "green." I know for a fact my students will be impacted forever by this project because they are learning valuable, hands-on lessons every day!! Come on by! We would love to give you a tour of our very own, ongoing sustainability project!
