Amnesty Week Recoups Thousands in Court Fees for City

SPRINGDALE, AR-- Springdale's first ever Warrant Amnesty Week wrapped up Friday and the police department says it was a success.
SPRINGDALE, AR-- Springdale's first ever Warrant Amnesty Week wrapped up Friday and the police department says it was a success.

While the event doesn't dismiss any charges, it did give folks the chance to get a court date and be released without having to post a bond.

According to a spokesperson, 46 people with outstanding warrants turned themselves in and were given court dates.  As a result, police said they will be able to collect on thousands in unpaid fees.  They do plan on offering another amnesty week in the future.

There are around 10,000 active warrants out in Springdale, according to police. People interested in turning themselves in or if you have questions about the program, contact the departments Warrants Division at 479-750-8568.
