ROGERS, AR -- Ever wondered what it's like to be a police officer? Well, now's your chance to find out! The Rogers Police Department is hosting a Citizen's Police Academy. It's designed to give people a better understanding of how police officers are trained and what their daily responsibilities are when serving the community.

During the classes, citizens will learn the basics of criminal law and patrol tactics among other things. The officers will even teach folks how to process a crime scene!

The classes are three hours long, once a week for ten weeks. The course is free of charge, but you must apply by February 6.

The 2014 Citizen's Police Academy starts on February 20, 2014. Classes will be held on Thursday nights from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. for a total of 10 sessions, with at least one additional Saturday session. Applicants must have no criminal convictions within the last three years and must be at least 21 years of age.
