AR 'WIC' Program Gets Break from Shutdown for Now

LITTLE ROCK, AR-- One program getting a break from the federal government shutdown is the supplemental nutritional program known as WIC.
LITTLE ROCK, AR-- The government shutdown was estimated to leave about 2,000 babies without infant formula, including about 300 children with special needs would run out of their specialized formula. Now, according to the Arkansas Department of Health's facebook page, a deal's been made that would preserve benefits in the Woman Infant and Children's program on a week-by-week basis. The deal will also allow for a reallocation of federal funds that should allow Arkansas to fund food vouchers without interruption on a weekly basis for the rest of October.
