CHICAGO - An Arkansas man visiting Chicago has been shot to death after a robbery that occurred inside his car.

Chicago Police say it happened early Thursday morning but investigators are still trying to determine the precise location of the shooting scene.

The victim is identified as Robert Franklin, 55, of Blytheville.

Police say a friend was in the car with Franklin when a man he had asked for directions climbed into the backseat and robbed them at gunpoint before opening fire. Franklin was reported to have suffered four gunshot wounds to the back.

The friend drove Franklin to a hospital around 4 a.m. He was pronounced dead a short time later.  According to the Chicago Tribune, police have been unable to figure out where the shooting occurred or where the two picked up the robber. No one was in custody and a description of the shooter was not available.
