The Benton County Sheriff's Office posted a statement on its facebook page Wednesday morning saying cyber-bullying is a crime in the state of Arkansas as well. Deputies tell us, although this story is from Florida, bullying happens everywhere. Benton County Deputy Keshia Guyll also says parents need to be aware and keep a watch on your children's social media.
"We really wanna get the message out to parents that it happens here too. Not just other places. It's happening here in our county," says Guyll. "Not only to prevent your child from bullying but from being a bully. "Obviously if you're gonna let your kids have cell phones and social media websites, make sure you monitor them. that's a must."
Deputies say children are more active on the Internet and Internet applications than ever before. If you feel your child has been bullied or is being bullied, contact your local police department or sheriff's office.
