Bret Bielema's Top Spot on USA Today Article Isn't the Whole Story

FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Bret Bielema is the third highest paid FBS coach in the country, according to rankings USA Today released Wednesday.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Bret Bielema is the third highest paid FBS coach in the country, according to rankings USA Today released Wednesday.

Bielema's $5,158,863 salary falls behind only Texas' Mack Brown and fellow SEC coach Nick Saban who leads the way with his $5,395,852 salary.

But don't let that number fool you, as Bielema is not actually making $5.1 million this year. His salary is $2.95 million, according to his contract, and $3.25 million when you add in other football-related duties.

Include the $1 million Arkansas paid him that he in return had to shell over to Wisconsin for his buyout, as well as the taxes from the buyout, and that's where that shockingly large number comes from.
