FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- A simple toy is helping feed and comfort those in need. People built teddy bears at the University of Arkansas Bookstore on Garland Friday for not one, but two good causes.

The bears are being donated to the Fayetteville Police Department. Officers will give them to kids dealing with difficult situations.

Folks could also purchase bears for $10. The money will go to the U of A's Full Circle Food Pantry, which helps students and staff on campus.

"You're really helping a great cause that's student led, helps build our student leadership, but also helps take care of our most critical students that are sometimes in crisis," says Angela Oxford with the University.

The Build-a-Bear event raised more than $1,400 for the pantry, and 59 bears were donated to the Fayetteville Police Department.
