College Grad Gets Solider Surprise
RUSSELLVILLE -- An emotional reunion at Arkansas Tech University's graduation ceremony Saturday brought the whole crowd to its feet in applause. Army Sergeant Jared Qualls returned from Kuwait and surprised his brother Nathan, who was dressed in cap and gown and had just received his diploma. As they embraced., some 3,000 people gave them a standing ovation. Sergeant Qualls served in Afghanistan from 2010 through 2011. He's now on his second tour, serving in Kuwait as a combat engineer. Their father and the university worked together to make the surprise reunion possible.

"I was only looking forward to seeing him for a couple of days on Christmas break and now I get to see him a lot more now. It means a lot. It makes the holidays a lot more meaningful and my graduation even more meaningful than what it was," said Nathan Quall, Arkansas Tech University Graduate.

"I haven't seen him in about a year, so it's a good surprise for the family. I knew it would bring a little bit more purpose to his graduation," Sgt. Jared Qualls, Army Combat Engineer.

Sergeant Qualls says he hopes to follow in his brother's footsteps and enroll at Arkansas Tech next year.
