CONWAY, AR-- A three-year-old Faulkner County boy is recovering after a pit bull attacked him Monday. Deputies say the boy should be okay, but add that he does have a lot of bite marks and bruises. Law enforcement officials say the attack happened in Conway at around 1:30 Monday afternoon. Chief Deputy Matt Rice says the boy was outside playing when one of his grandfather's pit bulls broke its chain and attacked him. Deputies say when they arrived the dog still seemed to be very aggressive. So they put it down.

"Any time a child, especially a 3-year-old is attacked by an animal or anybody, it's obviously a big concern, but we don't believe it's going to be life threatening," says Chief Deputy Rice. There are other dogs on the property but deputies say they haven't had any previous problems with the animals. Deputies did give the grandfather, Ricky Jackson, a citation as a result of the attack.
