188TH Finishes Final Training Flight in Fort Smith

FORT SMITH -- The Air National Guard's Flying Razorbacks took the air to finish the last training mission of the 188th Friday afternoon.
FORT SMITH -- The Air National Guard's Flying Razorbacks took the air to finish the last training mission of the 188th Friday afternoon.

The training mission was the last time the A-10’s will be soaring above the Fort Smith sky now that the 188th Fighter Wing is converting to a remotely piloted aircraft.

Pilot Major Davis says it was a bitter sweet day, "You know, you think you are ready for it and you have everything in line and you think you have your emotions in check, but then the day when it actually happens it hits home. Especially whenever this is the only place you’ve flown."

The final two Warthogs depart the base June 7th following the wings Conversion Day Ceremony.
