$2.9 Million Headed to Five Road Revamp Projects

SPRINGDALE, AR-- It will take millions of dollars to make over some major roads in Northwest Arkansas. And Wednesday afternoon in Springdale, the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission decided what areas need the most attention.
SPRINGDALE, AR-- It will take millions of dollars to make over some major roads in Northwest Arkansas. And Wednesday afternoon in Springdale, the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission decided what areas need the most attention. "Since the 2010 census, our area is now eligible to receive funding for transportation projects," says Transportation Programs Planner, Tim Conklin. The amount of federal funding for area transporation projects is around $6.6 million. Now, it's up to city and county leaders to decide where the money will go. "Which projects are needed to help improve mobility, reduce congestion, improve safety in our region, says Conklin. The next round of road revamps includes three proposed projects in Springdale. Other projects include intersection improvements in Bentonville and a study of Highway 71 in Bella Vista.

Springdale:
Elm Springs Road Overpass expansion to six lanes.
Extend 56th Street from the Don Tyson Interchange to Johnson Mill Blvd.
Continuing the Hwy 265 project from Randall Wobbe Lane to Hwy 264

Bentonville:
Intersection improvements:
N. Walton Blvd &Tiger Blvd.
12th Street

Bella Vista:
Capacity study of Hwy 71
