Accused Kidnapper & Rapist Rearrested For Giving Teen Alcohol

SPRINGDALE -- Police rearrested Isidro Vargas-Araujo Tuesday on new charges stemming from an incident back in March. He was first arrested Sunday for raping a girl near a school playground.
SPRINGDALE -- A Springdale man arrested this week on rape and kidnapping charges is back in jail facing new criminal charges. In March, police said Isidro Vargas-Araujo, 21, knowingly gave alcohol to a 17-year-old girl in a motel room. Investigators also said they found a meth pipe in that room.  According to the police report, Vargas-Araujo was the person who rented the motel room, and there were two other people there at the time of the offense.

Officers were still investigating this case, when Vargas-Araujo was arrested on Sunday for taking a 13-year-old girl from a school playground and raping her. He was already out on bond when police re-arrested him on the new charges Tuesday.

According to investigators, Vargas-Araujo is also a self-admitted gang member. His new charges include possession of drug paraphernalia, knowingly providing alcohol to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Due to these two arrests involving juveniles within a time span of just a few weeks, detectives say they are requesting a high bond for Vargas-Araujo.
