BENTON COUNTY -- The Benton County Circuit Clerk is warning people about a deed notice asking for money.

Brenda DeShields says the notice from a company called Record Transfer Services says homeowners can get a copy of their deed for $83. While the notice looks official, she says this company is not affiliated with the county.

DeShields says folks can get a deed copy from the Benton County Recorder's Office for 25 cents per page, and $5 to have it certified.

DeShields says she's had some questions about these notices, and according to the Arkansas Attorney General's Office, they are from a real company. However, she says she doesn't know if people who send in the money ever get anything back.
