According to the school, a student told administrators he found the threatening note in the boy's bathroom around 10 a.m.
All middle school students were sent to the high school gym as a safety precaution. The University of Arkansas Police Department's officers and bomb canines searched the middle school, clearing it of any threat. Students were allowed to return to the building shortly after lunch.
Superintendent John Karnes says the student who discovered the note admitted to writing it during questioning. Karnes says the case has been turned over to police, and school will go on as usual Wednesday.
"Our kids, they're resilient and you know they handled this fine," he says. "It's an unfortunate event. We're going to get on with the day and hopefully finish strong."
Tuesday was West Fork's first day back in class after six snow days.
