FORT SMITH -- The Golden Rule Clothes Closet in Fort Smith receives Noble Cause Award. The award honors people whose service is making a difference in their community now and for the next generation.

Golden Rule is a non-profit organization located on 3rd Street and has clothing furniture for people in need to shop for free. A person can can take one outfit a month.

"But it's not just one pair of pants or one shirt. You know, there’s shoes, there’s socks, coats in the winter time," said Clyde Chaney, director of the Golden Rule. "We have household items, pots and pans, sheets, blankets, and wash clothes. Towels. Furniture of any kind."

The close closet has been in business for over twenty three years but with recent funding cuts they've relied more on donations from the community to keep the program going.
