The city installed the crosswalk a few months ago where the Frisco Trail crosses South School Avenue. The High Intensity Activated CrossWalK, or HAWK, is the first one of its kind in Arkansas. It works a bit differently than traditional signals.
A flashing yellow light means a pedestrian needs to cross, and drivers should use caution. A solid yellow light means drivers should stop if possible. Solid red lights mean stop for a crossing pedestrian. Flashing red lights mean drivers should stop first, and then drive on if there are no pedestrians.
The city of Rogers also has a HAWK signal located on Pleasant Grove Road.
