Rogers High School Helps Make Local Girl's Wish
ROGERS, AR-- Showered with gifts, a key to the city, and a limo ride to school. It's a dream come true for a little girl with a big wish. And Rogers High School helped make it happen along with the Make a Wish Foundation. Eight year old Haley Friend was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October of last year. Since then, she's been receiving treatment at Saint Jude's in Memphis. Because of the lasting effects of her tumor, she was eligible to be a part of the Make a Wish program. "They asked her what her wish was and she said she wanted to go to Disney World and meet the princesses," says Brooke Friend, Haley's mother. They were lucky enough to get Rogers High School to sponsor that wish and that's what led us here today." Tuesday afternoon, the school held a special ceremony for Haley, complete with a limo ride to school where hundreds of students greeted her with welcome signs, a cheer squad, and Disney costumed characters. The mayor also handed Haley the key to the city of Rogers. Haley's mom says her prognosis is good, with continued treatment, shrinking her tumor with each visit.
