Close to 500 people attended the Arkansas Governor's Conference on Tourism at the John Q. Hammons Center.
State Tourism Director Joe David Rice says the event is a chance to show people what Northwest Arkansas has to offer, as well as outline the $10 million campaign to bring more visitors to Arkansas.
"We had a good year last year, not great, but good," Rice says. "We think that with the economy still being resilient, in Oklahoma and Texas, we're going to have a solid 2014."
Governor Mike Beebe says the tourism and hospitality industries employ tens of thousands of people statewide.
"It creates a lot of economic activity for all sorts of folks," he says. "Whether it's restaurants or hotels, whether it's any of the amenities that go along with the tourism industry, it creates a flow of economic activity that spills over to virtually every aspect of Arkansas' economy."
