NWA Teams Compete in Worldwide Scavenger Hunt

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS - Teams in Northwest Arkansas, and all over the world, are competing this week in a massive annual scavenger hunt.  It's called the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, or GISHWHES.

The groups have one week to complete dozens of creative, and sometimes bizarre tasks. For example, Friday we caught up with a team who had to have a cat order a meal from a food truck.  Another team roller-bladed through the Clinton House Museum in Fayetteville wearing silly hats.

The scavenger hunt was started four years ago by Misha Collins, an actor from the TV show "Supernatural."

"A couple of us are really big fans of the show 'Supernatural' and we just thought, you know, why not? This is something crazy and we just think we might be able to do it," said Haley Zega of Fayetteville, a scavenger hunt participant.

The winners of the competition receive a trip to Croatia. The money raised from all the entry fees will be donated to the charity Random Acts.
