Officers Learn Child Car Seat Safety

Police officers from across the Natural State braved the cold Friday to learn about child-seat safety.
Fayetteville, AR - Police officers from across the Natural State braved the cold Friday to learn about child-seat safety.

The training event was held at the Washington County Sheriff's Office, to teach officers how to properly install the car seats and spot mistakes that make the safety devices ineffective.

Fayetteville Police Sgt. Craig Stout says 80 percent of the seats nationwide are installed incorrectly.

The newly certified officers will be working with the public tomorrow in Rogers. The event will be held at the Walmart on Pleasant Crossing, from 9 a.m. to noon.

"People can come, have their child safety seat checked and we will have a limited number of seats available for a loan if someone doesn't have a seat," Stout says.
