PIC: Highway Patrol Rescues Tiny Pup from Freeway

CONTRA COSTA, CA -- A California Highway Patrol officer came to the rescue of a small Chihuahua that somehow ended up on the median of I-680 yesterday.
CONTRA COSTA, CA -- A California Highway Patrol officer came to the rescue of a small Chihuahua that somehow ended up on the median of I-680 yesterday.

Now this picture is of the patrol officer reaching for the pint-sized pup is making the rounds. The dog was curled up on a divider between the I-680′s northbound and southbound lanes and no one knows how he got there. The chihuahua is recovering at an animal shelter in California after it was rescued from a busy freeway by a highway patrol officer.

Animal service officials said the dog was still very scared when he was brought in and they are waiting for her to calm down before doing an extensive exam. They said there have already been several adoption requests.  More from KTLA
