Pryor Makes Push to Keep Jobs In U.S.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- If you take a look at the tags on toys and your clothes, you'll find a stamp saying where they came from. Now, 'Made In America' is on the mind of Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor.
If you take a look at the tags on toys and your clothes, you'll find a stamp saying where they came from. Now, 'Made In America' is on the mind of Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor.

Senator Pryor says his new legislation, "America Made Strong", will keep the dollars flowing into local communities. He and other Senate democrats want to end tax giveaways to companies that ship jobs overseas and give a tax credit for those who create jobs in the U.S. But economist Josh Smith says the 20% tax credit Senator Pryor is proposing may not be enough to keep jobs from going overseas.

"It wouldn't necessarily be the strong incentive companies need to reverse these outsourcing decisions," Smith said.

The Senate held a vote Wednesday for the consideration of the "Bring Jobs Home Act", a bill that Senator Pryor's legislation falls under. So the Senate will continue its debate on the jobs legislation.
