On Wednesday, the Fayetteville school board discussed who will replace Superintendent Vicki Thomas.
"We're looking for leadership that has experience that can manage two more years of the largest construction projects in the state," said Susan Heil.
Susan Heil has been on the school board for 12 years. She said whoever takes this position will have a lot on their plate, especially with the Fayetteville High School construction and the other responsibilities of a superintendent.
Right now, Heil and other board members have their plates full as they try to figure out how to search for the right candidate.
"I think the next biggest question on our list would be 'are we going to go with a search firm?' or are we going to handle a search on our own with the resources we have and who we would know in the state or nation," said Heil. "If we decide to go with a search firm, then we contact search firms to find out what expenses are with that and what their process is. If we go on our own, we've got to get on it, advertise on our own."
At Wednesday night's meeting, the board did decide to put up a profile on the position on the website in hopes of receiving feedback from the public. Something else decided? Board members will also get proposals from search firms.
