Rogers fire chief Tom Jenkins watches the National Weather Service to stay up to date on the approaching weather.
"It's our livelihood to prepare for the unknown. What we do is we simply prepare for the worst. Sometimes we will line up additional personnel to come in," said Jenkins. "Often times we just have people on call, ready to come in just for that circumstance."
Without knowing the exact timing of when storms could come through, Jenkins says it's a lot of waiting to see what happens.
"It's a whole lot of guessing at this point," he said. "As the storm progresses from west to east, we will being to make some judgements based on what we are seeing."
Whenever severe weather hits, Jenkins said his crews can handle whatever comes their way.
