NORTHWEST ARKANSAS - The summer slow down impacting shelves at the Salvation Army. Salvation Army Area Commander Major N.J. Pope says they are running low on food for folks in need. As the pantry becomes more and more bare, Pope says they do not have the money to go out and buy more food.
"People during the summertime do not send in as much in cash donations as they do at Christmas and the early part of the year and right now the Salvation Army financially is very strapped," he said.
Now, the Salvation Army is asking for the community to donate money or food items. Both perishable and non-perishable food items are accepted.
