JOPLIN, MO.--- Family and friends welcomed home U.S. Army Reserve Corporal Adrienne Carson this afternoon at the Joplin Regional Airport. Carson was stationed at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti on the horn of Africa for the past 9 months. The mission there was to combat violent extremist organizations. She serves with a unit out of Bentonville, Arkansas, but she is stationed in Joplin. Carson says she is happy she got the opportunity to go, but she's glad to be welcomed home.
"It feels really good. Makes me feel like I actually accomplished something and as well I, had a lot of traveling difficulties on my way over here. I had several lay overs. One was 36 hours in Bahrain, so I'm just happy to be here," said Cpl. Adrienne Carson, U.S. Army Reserve.
While serving overseas, Carson says she missed everything about America. She is home permanently until she gets called to serve her country once more.
