"We help low-income, single parents who are struggling to make ends meet, go back to college, complete their degree and move their families out of poverty," said Jody Dilday, Executive Director of the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas.
For those that want to go back to college starting in the fall, the application deadline is June 15. SPSF NWA serves Carroll, Madison and Washington Counties.
2014 is a big year for the organization, marking its 30th anniversary! It all started in 1984 when eight $300 scholarships were awarded. This year, they will award about $350,000 in scholarships.
To celebrate, they will be hosting the Spark of Hope Campaign and awards ceremony at the Fayetteville Town Center, June 19. The evening begins with a reception at 6:00 p.m. with dinner and the program starting at 7:00 p.m.
"It's a really inspirational night. We'll hear stories of hope and success through the decades for our recipient families and our supporters will get to hear how they're making a difference," said Joy Morris, Development Director for SPSF NWA.
