In order to better the city's finance committee has green lighted the purchase of four new snow plows.
SPRINGDALE, AR -- Springdale could soon be shopping for some new snow equipment. In order to better the city's finance committee has green lighted the purchase of four new snow plows, including two new front-mounted plows and two belly plows. The equipment should cost $157,112 before taxes, but Springdale will need some additional cash to build a place to store it. That could cost another $135,000 or more with consulting and designing fees included, according to Sam Goade, Springdale's director of public works.
"The proposed ordinance that the Finance Committee voted to forward to the City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday January 28 with a recommendation for approval would waive competitive bidding and allow Public Works to purchase the equipment from Grand Truck Equipment Company," Goade says.
The proposal now heads to the city council. Members will make the final decision at next week's meeting.
