State and local officials are traveling from all over Arkansas for training in emergency preparedness and homeland security.
The conference is teaming up with the Arkansas Emergency Management Association to focus on the latest techniques to keep Arkansans safe.
The state has seen hard times this year in emergency management.
As a result, emergency responders are looking to improve efficiency.
"That's what this business is all about. It's learning from what has occurred in the past and how to improve future response, future preparedness, future recovery and even better mitigation," said Scott Bass, disaster management division director for the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management.
The conference is at the Holiday Inn and Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale.
The convention will wrap up Friday.
