And that's the reason Arkansas' highway commissioner, parks and tourism director, and other state leaders gathered in Springdale Wednesday afternoon at Arvest Ball Park.
They all turned out to kick off the affectionately named, 'Travel, visit a state park, gas up, get a soda, catch a ball game, go out to eat, stay in a hotel and know where highway construction is before you go' season.
The state's tourism leaders are teaming up to help promote the highway department's newest way to keep drivers in the loop, ahead of their summer trip.
"So what we're trying to do is to make travel safer," says Arkansas Highway Commissioner Dick Trammel. "Travel more comfortable and easier to get to where they're going and enjoy the beauty of Arkansas with IDriveArkansas.com."
