A thaw is finally in the forecast for Atlanta after a winter storm crippled the entire area Tuesday. What remains are more than 2,000 cars abandoned during the traffic nightmare. Many were stuck with no food or water or access to a bathroom. Amid all the chaos, stories are surfacing of the people who came to the rescue of the thousands trapped by the snow. Officials are defending their responses, mostly blaming the weather report, even though forecasters gave warning.
An Italian court has handed down guilty verdicts for Amanda Knox and her former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito... This reverses an acquittal by a previous appeal ruling. Amanda Knox is in the U.S. and any detention would depend on the outcome of yet another appeal. She would then have to be extradited to serve the sentence.
Federal prosecutors announced Thursday that they will seek the death penalty for Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Attorney General Eric Holder officially authorized the government to seek to the death penalty in the upcoming trial against tsarnaev. He is charged with 30 federal counts stemming from the attack. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The bombing at the Boston marathon last year killed three people and injured more than 250.
A Pennsylvania woman is accused of using a McDonald's drive-thru window to sell heroin along with happy meals. Police say Shantia Dennis sold Happy Meals for $82. Investigators say anyone who wanted to buy the drugs simply pulled up to the drive-thru, ordered a Happy Meal, then said "i'd like to order a toy." Police say it's unclear how long the operation had been going on.
Google is selling Motorola in a multi-billion dollar deal. The Internet giant is selling its Motorola smartphone business to Chinese PC maker Lenovo for $2.9 billion. The deal includes Motorola smartphone brands like the Moto X and Moto G and the droid Ultra series.
